PAST & FUTURE
2022 Fine Art Series
The Past & Future paintings are treasures I have created and held with me in my own private collection of favored works. Each one is a portrait and window to a significant time of my life. They were created in a very special process that I have a gentleman named Bill Welch to thank for. Some of his last years battling ALS were spent in my studio as we discussed art, culture, politics and delightful things. I experimented with using different ways of working with paint, paint thinner (for loosening paint), acetone (for coagulating paint) and the most important part of letting the painting be for a time so the chemicals could work together to be what they are today.
Moments in life inspired their creation, I gave them life, and time gave them purpose.
In my life, familial concepts have deeply driven my personal narrative. Family I was born to, family I came to know as my own, friends who welcome me as family, and the family of all things as one. In this collection, I pay tribute to these powerful constructs of familial elements which have powered my faith of self and purpose so. Whether we come together or divide apart, we are always connected.

THE MOTHER ESSENCE
Acrylic, latex, spray paint, a torn up notice from the landlord of my art studio on 13th street to please stop throwing parties, & canvas hand stretched over a table top gifted to me by Robert Wurdack a thousand lives ago. 2011, 3ft x 3ft
I made it in a torrent rage of anguish and locked in it are those feelings, like a manic butterfly trapped in amber.
This painting has meant the most to me over the years. So much so that I bought it back from the people to whom I had originally sold it to. I've brought it with me all the times I've moved, all the years of changes...

THE TWO BROTHERS (1)
Spray paint, Latex, Acrylic, Sparkles of many sorts, Gold Leaf
2017 24"x30"
The Two Brothers are a pair of paintings birthed from the Father Piece. When the Father Piece was created, two blank canvases were placed face down on the wet paint and pressed, then removed. Each of the Two Brothers is an uninterrupted, direct paint-to-canvas print from the Father Piece, yet unique from one other.
